BLwashington thank you for sharing-I'm shocked, sad, and disgusted by all the things you had to go through but I'm happy to know that it's behind you.

i spent the first 17 years of my life in a jw home, then the real world caught up to me.

What's the weirdest health advice given by a JW?
by Julia Orwell infrom radio biola to a sister who said you can treat autism and ptsd with scented oils, jws have had some weird some weird ideas about medicine.
what gems have you heard?.

The weirdest advice was I was taught since I was a little kid that no matter what happened I should have faith that it would be undone and I would live happily ever after in the new world.
What these good doctors left out was that the weekly treatments of bullshit would prove to be exhausting and would eventually separate me from my family causing me to be the bad guy.
At least they're still on track to living the real life...for now.

The experience that changed my life
by hijosdelawatch ini have been lurking for a long time here and i think i'm prepared to speak about this experience openly.. .
i was born in a jw family and i grew up as the average jehovah's witness does.
even being very young, i helped with the territories and other work in the congregation.

Hijos you saved her, imagine not having done so and fading later after you found out the truth?
Now that would've been harder to live with.

"fine" used in the context of, "isn't that a fine brother there- great qualities?" Or "Wasn't that a fine amount of spiritual food at the appropriate time?" Or "Thank you everyone for those fine comments."
I hear "fine" and immediately think of a gorgeous woman.

Do you ever look back and cringe...
by laverite indo you ever look back and cringe thinking of things you said or how you acted in the door-to-door ministry?.
i recently had two jws at my door and posted about that here: http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/210246/1/jws-at-my-door.
they were gracious and polite.

My queue was door-in-the-face, otherwise it was a free for all trying to jam the literature and a quick text down the householder's throat.
All of my time out on FS was cringe worthy because I could've been watching cartoons or playing or doing anything remotely amusing but I was instead "saving lives."

Sticky situations
by Sammy Jenkis ini was remembering today this situation that i let get out of hand because i was too damaged to let my co-workers and my boss know i was a jw when i was still inside.
it was hard to explain to people something so foreign and out of this world as being a witness and never before had the difficulty been as hard as when one of our co-workers birthdays came around.. i dreaded the moment because i'd played pretty cool and dodged any questions that might reveal my religious inclinations.. but:.
my boss came over to my desk and gave me this card to sign, she asked if i'd like to sign it.

My hand writing was just nice enough to be easily identified and prosecuted.

Miss.fit that story was awesome, not boring at all.
"Maybe we'll be lucky and get mugged or maybe run over"
I'm glad you made it out of that one unscathed because I know the fear of mom is worse than the fear of God, haha. Under the bed- best hiding spot ever!

Do you remember your Baptism Talk?
by bildad indo you remember anything from your baptism talk or the brother who gave it?.

I can't remember anything from it really besides the fact I felt super proud when we were asked to stand and publicly sign our life over to the organization. I do remember feeling out of place as I wore a gray striped shirt for my dunking where the rest of the inductees seemed to have on white shirts.
